Additional Installation Notes and Troubleshooting
-------------------------------------------------

                Notes on getting the most use of RAM memory
                -------------------------------------------

If you have DOS Version 5.0, try the following:
	In your Config.sys file,
		1. Add the following line:
			Device=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
        2. load the driver EMM386.EXE as follows: (make sure you specify NOEMS)
			Device=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
		3. Add the following line:
			DOS=HIGH,UMB

	The above examples assume you have DOS installed in a subdirectory C:\DOS

	For more information on optimizing your systems RAM, consult chapter 12
    of your DOS manual, "Optimizing Your System"

    If you have DOS version 6.0, run the program "MEMMAKER" after you
    successfully installed CCOM-EZ.

	In your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, add the reference 'LH' to each line that loads
    the CCOM TSR'S. 'LH' stands for 'load high'. This will force the tsr's to load in
    upper memory blocks and free up conventional RAM. The lines should then look
    similar to:

		lh C:\CCWIN\FAX\comfix
		lh C:\CCWIN\FAX\cpcknl
		lh c:\CCWIN\FAX\tm
		lh C:\CCWIN\FAX\sr
		lh C:\CCWIN\VOICE\vclean
		lh C:\CCWIN\VOICE\voice
		lh C:\CCWIN\FAX\cfpi

	The above examples assume you have installed CCOM-EZ in the default
    directory, "CCWIN"

    If you have third party memory managers, such as QEMM or 386MAX, consult
    those manuals on the use of optimizing programs, such as 'OPTIMIZE'(QEMM) or
    'MAXIMIZE'(386MAX). These utilities configure your system for best use of
    RAM.
    Run the utilities after successfully installing CCOM-EZ.

                            TROUBLESHOOTING
                            ---------------

Problem
    A 386 or 486 computer will reboot when recording or playing
    a message.
Solution 1
    On some machines, this problem can be fixed by using
    the alternate VOICE.EXE, version 4.02, available from the Boca BBS.
    This version of VOICE.EXE disables a certain RAM area that is known
    to conflict with certain motherboard BIOS manufacturers. The Boca
    BBS is available 24 hours a day. Set you communications software to
    8 Data bits, 1 stop bit, No Parity; and dial

                           (407) 241-1601

Solution 2
    Remove EMM386.EXE from your config.sys.
Solution 3
    Edit your system.ini file and change the line
            comm.drv=c:\ccwin\fax\comm310.drv
        to
            comm.drv=comm.drv
Solution 4
    Run WINDOWS in standard mode by typing
            win /s

Problem
    When I run CAMDOS or RFAXDOS, sometimes I get the message "OUT OF MEMORY"
    and my screen goes blank- or the system locks up.
Solution
    You need to free up conventional RAM. CAMDOS and RFAXDOS require
    about 540K of free conventional memory.

Problem
    When calling into the system, the voice sounds garbled, or you can't
    hear it at all.
Solution 1
    Disable EMM386 from your config.sys file.
Solution 2
    Your hard-disk is not responding fast enough to feed data
    to the Complete Communicator. If your hard-disk is of MFM or
    RLL type, try disk-caching programs to help buffer the hard-disk.
    Also, regularly compact your hard-disk using disk utilities such
    as Nortons Speed Disk or PC-TOOLS Compress . Consider upgrading to
    a faster hard-disk.

Problem
    When in AUTO FAX/VOICE mode, I cannot receive a fax. The fax message
    ends up in my default mailbox as a blank message, rather than a fax in
    my fax in-box.
Solution 1
    Re-record the greeting for your default mailbox. The greeting must
    be less than 12 seconds.
Solution 2
    If your commplete communicator, or the other fax machine, is attached
    to certain PBX telephone systems, the complete communicator and the
    other fax machine, may not be able to negotiate correctly. Move
    the complete communicator or fax machine to a regular phone line.

Problem
    Cannot scan with the DOS version of the software.
Solution
    The DOS version does not support the TWAIN interface. Only the
    Complete PC's scanners are supported. Certain older HP scanners
    are supported, only if they are not TWAIN.
