************************************************************************* XingMPEG Player Version 2.01 Xing Technology Corporation 1540 West Branch Street Arroyo Grande, CA 93420 ************************************************************************* ************************** GETTING STARTED ************************** ************************************************************************* Preparing to Install the XingMPEG Player Before installing the XingMPEG Player, make sure the following hardware and software is installed and working: - IBM PC 486/Pentium or compatible computer (a Pentium with at least 8MB of RAM is recommended); - Microsoft Windows95; - a hard disk drive with at least 3MB of free space; - a CD-ROM drive is optional; - a sound card with a Windows wave audio driver is optional. Installing the XingMPEG Player 1 Turn on your computer and start Windows. 2 Insert the XingMPEG Player Diskette into your diskette drive. 3 Choose "Run" from the Windows 95 Start menu; the "Run" dialog appears. 4 Type "A:\SETUP" (substitute the drive letter of your diskette drive for "A", if necessary), and click the "OK" button; the XingMPEG Player setup program starts. 5 Follow the setup program's on-screen instructions. ************************************************************************* *********** RELEASE NOTES TO XingMPEG Player VERSION 2.01 ************ ************************************************************************* Installation - You can de-install the XingMPEG Player by running the setup program and answering "Yes" when you are prompted to de-install. XingMPEG Driver - When the Driver is accessing Direct Draw, pausing playback no longer causes loss of the Direct Draw surface. - Elliminated potential memory loss during multi-file playback. - The XingMPEG Driver's Configuration dialog can not be accessed through the MultiMedia Control Panel. XingMPEG Player (XMPLAYER.EXE) - Added support of Windows95 Plus Pac - The Playback Settings dialog has a new option "Always Open at 100%". - The Video Performance Diagnostic tool’s ability to accurately report overall frame rate on PC’s that achieve greater than approximately 35 frames per second has been improved. On fast PCs where the actual achieved frame rate may be up to 70fps, the diagnostic tool now reports an accurate frame rate. Inaccuracies may be experienced on very fast PC’s that achieve frame rates greater than approximately 70 frames per second. - If the XingMPEG Driver’s "Use Video Acceleration" option is disabled, a warning of this condition is now properly displayed when the Video Performance test is run. - Elliminated possible problem when closing the program using the "Alt-F4" keyboard command. - During Multi-file playback the Video Window is now destroyed and recreated between files. - The Playback Options dialog’s MPEG Driver Setup button is disabled when no MPEG file is open. ************************************************************************* *********** RELEASE NOTES TO XingMPEG Player VERSION 2.0 ************ ************************************************************************* Installation - No Deinstall program is currently available. XingMPEG Driver - When accessing primary surface DCI on some display systems, fatal errors may occur when resizing the video playback window during playback. - During MPEG file playback, accessing dialog boxes within the application that is controlling playback (e.g., the XingMPEG Player program or Media Player) may be subject to delays. XingMPEG Player (XMPLAYER.EXE) - When the XingMPEG Player is accessing Direct Draw video acceleration, clicking on the Track Bar during playback may cause a bright green border to appear around the Track Bar. - The Video Performance Diagnostic tool improperly reports the overall frame rate on PC's that achieve greater than approximately 35 frames per second. On fast PCs where the actual achieved frame rate may be 60fps or greater, the diagnostic tool will never report a frame rate higher than approximately 35 frames per second. In such situations, the following error usually appears: "There is a problem with Subsystems Performance Values". - If the XingMPEG Driver's "Use Video Acceleration" option is disabled, no warning of this condition is displayed when the Video Performance test is run. Before running this test, make sure the XingMPEG Driver's "Use Video Acceleration" option is enabled. - The XingMPEG Player's Mute button does not reflect or affect the current state of the Windows95 Audio Mute control.
