iF-22 by Interactive Magic Patch 1 5 September, 1997 This patch is split into two files for easier downloading, iF22_p1a.zip and iF22_p1b.zip. You should run both files to install the patch. If you did not install the game to the default directory, you must specify the install directory when unzipping the files. Please note: The original version of iF-22 is not compatable with a network game created by a patched version of iF-22. If you join a network session created by a different version of the game one of two messages appears: "Join request rejected due to version incompatability" - The session creator needs to install the latest patch before hosting the session. "Join request rejectd by %s!" - You need to install the latest patch before attempting to join the network session. Patch Highlights ---------------- - Improvements have been made in several areas to increase the frame rate and decrease hard drive access pauses. The improvement varies from system to system, but most users should notice faster gameplay. - An option to use a more-realistic, reduced, Radar Cross Section (RCS) of the F-22 was added on the Instant Action Setup and Create/Edit Pilot screens. If you use it, you'll be nearly invisible to all radars, so don't be surprised if no one shoots at you. - "Request Steers to Home" communication now works properly. - Escort missions are now evaluated correctly in the debriefing, giving you credit for escorted planes who survive the mission. - Aborting some missions no longer generates a successful result. - Planes will no longer respawn with damage in multiplayer. - Cannon sound now works when the gun is fired from the keyboard. - Engine sound no longer drops out after a pause. - Guided bombs must now be vectored toward the target correctly. - MIDI music should now play in stereo on all stereo systems. - View toggle now defaults to "off" to avoid problems with the hat switch on some joysticks. - AI planes now explode when they collide with the ground. - Several colors have been added to the HUD to make it easier to read. - Cannon fire is now oriented correctly with the nose of the plane. - The "white-out" effect has been improved. - The functioning of digital joysticks in the game has been improved. - Confirmation is now given for destruction of ground targets. - The voice responses given by wingmen are now staggered instead of simultaneous. - Wingmen will now acknowledge your orders more quickly. - Wingmen will try to avoid speaking at the same time when they respond to your commands. - The game now waits longer for a multiplayer connection to avoid problems when players take a long time to check in. - The frontline for cooperative missions in Bosnia has been moved forward to avoid long flight times to and from the target. - The maneuverability of AIM-120 AMRAAM's has been greatly improved. Please note: We recommend that you do NOT use the "reduced RCS" option. The original F-22 RCS was increased to make the game more challenging and fun to play. Enabling the reduced RCS option makes the game a bit too easy, in our opinion.
