Driver Installation - Novell NetWare DOS ODI Driver ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Siemens OfficeLAN PCI 10/100 TX Fast Ethernet Adapter Novell NetWare DOS ODI Client Driver INSTALLATION GUIDE ============================================================================= CONTENTS ============================================================================= * Important Considerations * System Requirements * Files Provided * Hardware Installation Guide * Device Driver Installation Guide Automatic Installation Using Diagnostics Manual Installation ============================================================================= IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS ============================================================================= * This driver supports the Ethernet Adapters. * For custom installations (multiple frame types), refer to your Novell NetWare ODI Shell for DOS manual. * The adapter support both line speed 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps. * The NET.CFG file contains configuration information. AUTODETECT : Auto detect the line speed. LINESPEED 10M_TP : Setting line speed to 10 Mbps mode. LINESPEED 10M_TP_FD : Setting line speed to 10 Mbps FULL DUPLEX mode. LINESPEED 100M_TX : Setting line speed to 100 Mbps mode. LINESPEED 100M_TX_FD : Setting line speed to 100 Mbps FULL DUPLEX mode. SLOT 0 : slot number can be 0 to N. First card is 0 , and second is 1. If Just only one card is installed, skip the slot setting. TX_THRESHOLD_MODE 0 : Mode number can be 0 to 6. The TxThreshold lets you choose the number of bytes read from the host memory into the transmit FIFO before the transmission. If the frame length is less than the threshold value, the adapter will start to transmit after a full frame is in the FIFO. The performance is better, if the smaller value is chosen. But if you have compatible problem, the Store and Forward or the bigger value is recommended. Available modes: Mode 0 : Store and Forward ( default ) Mode 1 : Threshold 36 Bytes Mode 2 : Threshold 72 Bytes Mode 3 : Threshold 96 Bytes Mode 4 : Threshold 128 Bytes Mode 5 : Threshold 160 Bytes Mode 6 : Threshold 256 Bytes ============================================================================= SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ============================================================================= Hardware Requirements: * IBM-compatible personal computer (PC), 80486 or higher with PCI bus * The adapter Firmware Requirements: * Fully compliant Rev. 2.0 or higher PCI BIOS supplied with the PC Software Requirements: * MS-DOS v3.0 or higher * Novell LSL (v2.11 or higher, provided on the ConfigDisk) * Novell IPXODI (provided on the ConfigDisk) * Novell NETX or Novell VLM (provided on the ConfigDisk) ============================================================================= FILES PROVIDED ============================================================================= * L100.COM Novell NetWare ODI Client driver * NET.CFG Novell network configuration file for the driver * L100.INS Novell NetWare ODI Client installation file * LSL.COM Novell NetWare Link Support Layer * DRIVERS.DOS Driver information file ============================================================================= HARDWARE INSTALLATION GUIDE ============================================================================= * See the User Guide for complete installation instructions. * When installing my card in a PCI computer, make sure the slot you select supports bus master operations. * No specialized setup is necessary for motherboards with automatic PCI parameterization (most new PCs support it). * For motherboards with bus master jumpers and interrupt jumpers for PCI slots: 1. Using the appropriate motherboard jumper, enable bus master operations for the selected PCI slot. 2. Using the appropriate motherboard jumper, select the interrupt to the selected PCI slot. 3. Using your computer setup menu: * Enable the bus master on the PCI slot. * Enable I/O on the PCI slot. * Define the interrupt number on the PCI slot. ============================================================================= DEVICE DRIVER INSTALLATION GUIDE ============================================================================= Automatic Installation Using Diagnostics From the Diagnostics Driver Installation screen, select Auto Installation to install the driver and update the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Diagnostics' Auto Installation is menu driven interface you can complete installation easily. ============================================================================= This software and documentation have restricted rights: their use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is subject to the restrictions in: * DFARS 252.227-7013 Subparagraph (c) (1) (ii) Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause * FAR 52.227-14 Alternate III Rights in Data -- General clause * FAR 52.227-19 Subparagraphs (c) (1) and (2) Commercial Computer Software -- Restricted Rights clause Other product and company names are registered trademarks or trademarks of their respective holders.
