The driver has been tested with Microsoft LAN Manager, 3Com 3+Open, IBM LAN Server, IBM PC LAN Program, DEC Pathworks, and other NDIS-compatible network operating systems and protocol stacks. * The PROTOCOL.INI file contains configuration information. ============================================================================= FILES PROVIDED ============================================================================= * L100.DOS DOS NDIS2 driver * OEMSETUP.INF Network information file ============================================================================= DEVICE DRIVER INSTALLATION GUIDE ============================================================================= The following instructions describe how to install Windows for Workgroups 3.1 or 3.11 with the driver file. If Windows for Workgroups is installed and you want to install just the driver, skip this section and go to "Installing the LCI Driver Only". * Installing Windows for Workgroups and the Driver This procedure describes installing Windows for Workgroups v3.1 or v3.11 together with the driver files. It is designed to expedite the driver installation. To customize your installation and the Windows desktop, see Windows for Workgroups manual. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NOTE: If you are installing an ODI or NDIS 3 driver, you will need the NETWARE.DRV file. You can obtain the current version of this file from the Novell NetWire Forum on CompuServe. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 1. Insert the Windows for Workgroups Disk 1 Setup diskette in your computer floppy drive. 2. Change to the drive in which you inserted the disk in Step 1. 3. At the DOS prompt, type: SETUP [Enter] The setup procedure takes 10-15 minutes to complete. 4. This step has two sets of instructions: one for Windows for Workgroups v3.1, and another for Windows for Workgroups v3.11. The following instructions apply to Windows for Workgroups v3.1 users: * Follow the screen prompts until the one that states Windows has detected the card and asks if you want to install the driver for this adapter now. * Select "No" (this driver is older than the one provides). * When the Install New Network Adapter dialog box appears, select "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter". * Select "Continue". * Go to Step 5. The following instrutions apply to Windows for Workgroups v3.11 users: * Follow the screen prompts until the Network Setup window appears. * Select "Advanced". * Select "Networks" and "Install Microsoft Windows Network". * Select "No additional network" or "Other", as appropriate. See your Windows for Workgroups manual for more information. * Select "Sharing" and specify whether you want other users to be able to share your files and printer(s). Select "OK". * Select "Real Mode" * Select "Drivers". * Select "Add Adapter". The Add Network Adapter dialog box appears. * Select "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter", followed by "OK". 5. When the Install Driver window appears, insert your ConfigDisk into your computer floppy drive. 6. In the Install Driver window, type the driver's path (for example, A:\WFW). 7. Select "OK". The Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter window appears. 8. Select the appropriate adapter you are using followed by "OK". 9. If you are prompted for the adapter's Base I/O setting, specify it and select "OK". 10. This step has two sets of instructions: one for Windows for Workgroups v3.1, and another for Windows for Workgroups v3.11. The following instructions apply to Windows for Workgroups v3.1 users: * When the Install Driver window appears, insert the Windows for Workgroups 3.1 Disk 8 diskette in your computer floppy drive. * Verify that the drive shown in the window is the one in which you inserted the Windows for Workgroups 3.1 Disk 8 diskette. Select "OK". You are prompted to alternate diskettes. * Select "Real Mode". * Select "Advanced". You are prompted with several options. They include: Slot number Media Mode Net Address * Click on "Set" for each option. * Click on "OK" to close the dialog box. * During the following driver-installation procedure, you are prompted to insert a Windows for Workgroups diskette. Specify the path where our Windows for Workgroups driver is located. If the driver is on a floppy diskette, insert the diskette into an available floppy drive. * Press [Enter]. * Follow the screen prompts until you are prompted to restart Windows or continue. * Go to step 11. The following instructions apply to Windows for Workgroups v3.11 users: * When the Network Drivers window appears, use "Add Adapter" and/or "Add Protocol" to add more adapters (up to 4) and protocols. See the Windows for Workgroups manual for details. * To change the Base I/O setting (specified in Step 10) and/or select a driver type, select "Setup" and make the appropriate selections. * Select "Real Mode". * Select "Advanced". You are prompted with several options. They include: o Slot number: Specify the slot number of the adapter. from 1 to 8, the default is 1. o Media Mode: Specify the selected Media port # AUTODETECT In AUTODETECT mode the driver supports run-time auto swap function. You can auto swap during run time from one hub to another. # TP_10 10Base-T Half-Duplex mode # TP_10_FD 10Base-T Full-Duplex mode # TP_100_FD 100Base-Tx Full-Duplex mode # TP_100 100Base-Tx Half-Duplex mode o Net Address Override the burned-in address of the network adapter. The value of this parameter is a hexadecimal string of 12 digitals with a '#' chatater at the beginning, as in #00A0CC123456. The address must be unique among all other network adapter addresses on the network. #000000000000 is the default value, the burned-in address will bot be overrided. * Click on "Set" for each option. * Click on "OK" to close the dialog box. * Select "Close" (or "Cancel") followed by "OK" (or "Continue"). * In the Microsoft Windows Networks Names box, select "OK". * Follow the screen prompts to complete the driver installation. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NOTE: If you are installing an ODI or NDIS 3 driver, you are prompted to provide the NETWARE.DRV file. Restart your computer so your options can take effect. * Installing the our Driver Only The instructions that follow describe installation of the our driver. They assume that Windows for Workgroups v3.1 or v3.11 is already installed. The following instructions apply to Windows for Workgroups v3.1 users: 1. In the Main window, double-click on the Control Panel icon. 2. Double-click on the Network icon. 3. In the Options area, select the Adapters icon. 4. Go to the Step 5 if an adapter driver is already loaded. Go to Step 6 if an adapter driver is not already loaded. 5. Select the adapter you want to remove, followed by "Remove". When a message asks if you are sure you want to remove the adapter, select "Yes". 6. Select "Add Adapter". The Install Network Adapter dialog box appears. 7. Select "Unlisted or Updated Adapter" followed by "OK". The Install Driver dialog box appears. 8. Specify the path for the our Windows for Workgroups driver. If the driver is on a floppy diskette, insert the diskette into an available floppy drive. 9. Select "OK". The Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter dialog box appears. 10. Select "OK" in the next two dialog boxes that appear. 11. Select "Close". The Network Settings dialog box appears. 12. Select "OK". You are if you want to accept the options you selected and restart, or return to DOS. Restart your computer so your options can take effect. The following instructions apply to Windows for Workgroups v3.11 users: 1. In the Network window, double-click on the Network Setup icon. 2. When the Network Setup dialog box appears, select "Advanced". 3. Select "Networks" and "Install Microsoft Windows Network". 4. Select "No additional network" or "Other", as appropriate. See your Windows for Workgroups manual for more information. 5. Select "Sharing" and specify whether you want other users to be able to share your files and printer(s). Select "OK". 6.
