Insert the 32-bit PCI Series (Fast) Ethernet adapter into one of the Master PCI slots of your PCI platform. 2. Power on your machine and boot from Windows 95. 3. Windows 95 will prompt you with the PCI Ethernet Controller in New Hardware Found dialog box. 4. Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" from New Hardware Found dialog box, and click . 5. Insert the Driver Diskette in your floppy drive. 6. Enter the driver path name, e.g., A:\win95 (or B:\win95). Click button in the "Install from Disk" dialog box. 7. Follow screen instructions to complete installation. 8. Restart your computer. B) Configure the NDIS 3.1 driver in Windows 95 ---------------------------------------------- 1. Click the "My Computer" icon. 2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in My Computer window. 3. Double-click the "Network" icon in the Control Panel window. 4. Select "Adapter" item from Network Component Type dialog box, and click the "Properties..." button. 5. Then click "Advanced" button in the dialog box. 6. Set the following properties: <1>. Burst Length : 1 Dword Default is 16 Dwords. 2 Dwords (1 Dword = 4 bytes) 4 Dwords 8 Dwords 16 Dwords 32 Dwords <2>. Connection Type (32-bit driver): for 10/100M adapter: AutoSense (Default) 100BASE-TX 100BASE-TX/Full-duplex 10BASE-T 10BASE-T/Full-duplex <3>. Connection Type (16-bit driver): (This argument will be put in MAC driver section in PROTOCOL.INI) Auto Detection (Default) Twisted Pair Twisted Pair/Full-duplex <4>. Receive Buffers: 8, 16, 32, 48, 64. (Default value is 16.) <5>. Map Registers: 4, 8 (Default value is 8.) This parameter depends on the machine. For x86, the value should be 8. Also, the following three parameters can be used for 32-bit PCI Series (Fast) Ethernet adapter. <6>. Store And Forward : Enabled --> Enable early transmit, Disabled--> Disable early transmit,(default) <7>. Transmit Threshold : the transmit FIFO threshold level with Store and Forward disabled. 10Mbps: 72, 96, 128, 160 (Default value is 160) bytes, 100Mbps: 128, 256, 512, 1024 (Default value is 1024) bytes, <8>.
