Install Novell NetWare v3.12 operating system into your server station hard disk. 2. Insert the RL2000A driver disk and extract the Loader patch files to the local hard disk into directory C:\NWSERVER. See instruction in A:\NW312\312LDR.PAT\LDR312.TXT 3. Next copy all files in A:\NW3.12 directory of distribution diskette to C:\SERVER.312 directory of NetWare v3.12 server hard disk. For example, type, A:\ COPY A:\NW3.12\*.* C:\SERVER.312 4. Run SERVER.EXE on the NetWare v3.12 server station. 5. At the NetWare 386 prompt, type: : C:\SERVER.312\RP312.NCF RP312.NCF will automatically loads the following files, NBI31X.NLM, MSM31X, ETHERTSM, and RLPNPA 6. Next bind IPX to the server driver by typing: : BIND IPX RLPNPA net=xxxxxxxx where xxxxxxxx can be 1 to 8 digits long in hexadecimal. 7. Server is now ready to service the workstations Configure NetWare v3.12 to automatically run the RLPNPA.LAN driver ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ The server LAN driver can configured to load automatically when Netware starts up. Follow the steps below to do configure it. a. Insert the RL2000A driver disk and extract the Loader patch files to the local hard disk into directory C:\NWSERVER. See instruction in A:\NW312\312LDR.PAT\LDR312.TXT b. Insert RL2000A-PNP distribution disk in drive A and type, C:\SERVER.312> Copy A:\NW3.12\*.* C:\SERVER.312 c. Run SERVER.EXE on the NetWare v3.12 server. : LOAD INSTALL Select "System Option" and "Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF file". Add these lines and save. LOAD C:\SERVER.312\NBI31X LOAD C:\SERVER.312\MSM31X LOAD C:\SERVER.312\ETHERTSM LOAD C:\SERVER.312\RLPNPA BIND IPX RLPNPA NET=number When Netware 3.12 server restarts the LAN driver will automatically loads. ------------------------------------- Installing RLPNPNW3.LAN driver ============================== Below are guidelines for installing the server driver, RLPNPNW3.LAN, in a NetWare 3.12 environment. 1. Install Novell NetWare v3.12 operating system into your server hard disk. 2. Change to C:\SERVER.312 directory. Assumed this is your NetWare boot directory. C:\> CD \SERVER.312 C:\SERVER.312> _ Insert RL2000A-PNP distribution disk in drive A and type, C:\SERVER.312> Copy A:\NW3.11\ETHERTSM.NLM C:\SERVER.312 C:\SERVER.312> Copy A:\NW3.11\MSM31X.NLM C:\SERVER.312 C:\SERVER.312> Copy A:\NW3.11\RLPNPNW3.LAN C:\SERVER.312 3. Run SERVER.EXE on the NetWare v3.11 server. C:\SERVER.312> SERVER 4. At the NetWare console prompt, type: : LOAD C:\SERVER.312\MSM31X : LOAD C:\SERVER.312\ETHERTSM : LOAD C:\SERVER.312\RLPNPNW3 7. Bind IPX to the server driver by typing: : BIND IPX RLPNPNW3 NET=number The Netware 3.12 server is now properly setup. ------------------------------------------ Configure NetWare v3.12 to automatically run the RLPNPNW3.LAN driver ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ The server LAN driver can configured to load automatically when Netware starts up. Follow the steps below to do configure it. a. Insert RL2000A-PNP distribution disk in drive A and type, C:\SERVER.312> Copy A:\NW3.11\ETHERTSM.NLM C:\SERVER.312 C:\SERVER.312> Copy A:\NW3.11\MSM31X.NLM C:\SERVER.312 C:\SERVER.312> Copy A:\NW3.11\RLPNPNW3.LAN C:\SERVER.312 b. Run SERVER.EXE on the NetWare v3.12 server. : LOAD INSTALL Select "System Option" and "Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF file". Add these lines and save. LOAD C:\SERVER.312\MSM31X LOAD C:\SERVER.312\ETHERTSM LOAD C:\SERVER.312\RLPNPNW3 BIND IPX RLPNPNW3 NET=number When Netware 3.12 server restarts the LAN driver will automatically loads. ------------------------------------- ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ INSTALLING MULTIPLE ADAPTERS ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ The following steps describe the method of installing two network adapters: Note: The steps described below apply to both RLPNPNW3.LAN and RLPNPA.LAN 1. Make sure that the hardware settings of the two RL2000A network adapters do not conflict. Hint: Install all network adapters in the PC. Run the RLASET configuration program. It will resolve all hardware conflicts on all RL2000A PnP cards in the PC. Save the configuration. 2. Run SERVER.EXE. 3. At the NetWare prompt, type: : LOAD RLPNPA If the I/O port of the two adapters are 280h and 300h, with IRQ number A and 3 set respectively, then your screen displays the following messages when you load the server driver. Loading module RLPNPA.LAN Supported I/O port values are : 280, 300 I/O port : 280 Supported interrupt number values are : A, 5 Interrupt number : A The I/O ports and IRQs of the adapters are AUTOMATICALLY detected by the server driver. 4. To load the server driver again, type: : LOAD RLPNPA The screen displays the following messages: Do you want to add another frame type for a previously loaded board? Loading module RLPNPA.LAN Supported I/O port values are : 300 I/O port : 300 Supported interrupt number values are : 5 Interrupt number : 5 Previously loaded module was used re-entrantly. 5. Bind IPX to RLPNPA for both the network adapters. ------------------------------------ ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ COMMAND LINE OPTIONS ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Apart from the standard command line options of PORT, INT, FRAME, etc, the server driver also provides an additional command line option for installing multiple adapters. 1. BOARD Valid board number are : 1 - 4 This option is used to specify which board to initialize if there are multiple boards installed in the system. If the board number is not specified, the driver will detect all the I/O ports of the boards for user to select. You may specify the board number you require when loading the server driver, for example: : LOAD RLPNPA BOARD=1
