Install Novell NetWare v3.11 operating system into your server hard disk. 2. Change to C:\SERVER.311 directory. Assumed this is your NetWare boot directory. C:\> CD \SERVER.311 C:\SERVER.311> Insert RL2000A-PNP distribution disk in drive A and type, C:\SERVER.311> Copy A:\NW3.11\*.* C:\SERVER.311 3. Run SERVER.EXE on the NetWare v3.11 server. C:\SERVER.311> SERVER 4. At the NetWare 386 prompt, type: : LOAD C:\SERVER.311\PATCHMAN : LOAD C:\SERVER.311\LSLENH : LOAD C:\SERVER.311\MSM31X : LOAD C:\SERVER.311\ETHERTSM : LOAD C:\SERVER.311\RLPNPNW3 7. Follow the steps below to do configure it. a. Insert RL2000A-PNP distribution disk in drive A and type, C:\SERVER.311> Copy A:\NW3.11\*.* C:\SERVER.311 b. Run SERVER.EXE on the NetWare v3.11 server. : LOAD INSTALL Select "System Option" and "Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF file". Add these lines and save. Г Г Use the MONITOR.NLM included in this disk instead. Г Г Rename or copy the original MONITOR.NLM to a save place first. Г Г Then copy from the distribution disk the MONITOR.NLM file to Г Г SYS:SYSTEM directory. Г Г Г Г 2) Also note that when loading this new LAN driver, a warning message Г Г below will appear, Г Г Г Г " Warning: NetWare v3.11 does not support protected mode BIOS accesses.Г Г This may cause newer PCI driver to fail" Г Г Г Г Just ignore the message. Rename the old .LAN, MONITOR.NLM, PATCHMAN.NLM files. 2. Copy RLPNPA.LAN and all .NLM files from distribution disk, A:\NW3.12\Spec3.3 into C:\SERVER.311 directory. From the distribution disk copy also the following file:- A:\NW3.11\SFTiii\A3112.NLM 3. Bring up NetWare v3.11 server. At the file server console, type, : Load C:\SERVER.311\LSLENH : Load C:\SERVER.311\A3112 : Load C:\SERVER.311\NBI31X.NLM : Load C:\SERVER.311\MSM31X.NLM : Load C:\SERVER.311\ETHERTSM.NLM : Load C:\SERVER.311\RLPNPA.LAN : BIND IPX RLPNPA net= xxxxxxxx where xxxxxxxx can be 1 to 8 digit in hexadecimal and must be a unique number. Update AUTOEXEC.NCF file to auto-load these file when the server starts. ======================================================================== 1. Login in as Supervisor user and change the SYSTEM directory. 2. Use any text editor like Notepad or DOS EDIT open the file AUTOEXEC.NCF. Insert the following text after the line "IPX internet address= nnnnnnnn". Then save and exit. e.g. IPX internet address = nnnnnnnn Load C:\SERVER.311\LSLENH <-- add line Load C:\SERVER.311\A3112 <-- add line Load C:\SERVER.311\NBI31X.NLM <-- add line Load C:\SERVER.311\MSM31X.NLM <-- add line Load C:\SERVER.311\ETHERTSM.NLM <-- add line Load C:\SERVER.311\RLPNPA.LAN <-- add line Bind IPX RLPNPA net=xxxxxxxx <-- add line Note:- If you have more than one RL2000A PnP adapter installed, At the DOS prompt, run RLASET record the I/O addresses and IRQ numbers for each card. Edit C:\SERVER.311\RL311.NCF file and change the line; Load C:\SERVER.311\RLPNPA to Load C:\SERVER.311\RLPNPA Port=nnn1 Name=RL1 Load C:\SERVER.311\RLPNPA Port=nnn2 Name=RL2 Bind IPX RL1 net=xxxxxxx1 Bind IPx RL2 net=xxxxxxx2 save and exit the text editor. where, xxxxxx1 and xxxxxx2 must be unique hexadecimal number. Installing on NetWare SFT III 3.11 ЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭ 1. Rename the old xxx.LAN, xxxTSM.NLM, and MSMxxx.NLM files. 2. Copy the new xxx.LAN, xxxTSM.NLM, and MSMxxx.NLM files into the directory of each server where files loaded from IOSTART.NCF are loaded. These files should also be put into the SYSTEM directory of the SYS: volume for easy server maintenance. Do not use LSLENH.NLM, PATCHMAN.NLM, MONITOR.NLM, XLOAD.EXE, or LDR001.PTF with NetWare SFT III 3.11. These files are for NetWare 3.11 only. Do not use the included MONITOR.NLM with NetWare SFT III 3.11. Use the shipping MONITOR.NLM with NetWare SFT III 3.11. LAN statistics are not part of MONITOR.NLM in SFT III 3.11. 3. Copy PM311IO.NLM and LSLENH3.NLM into the directory of each server where files loaded from IOSTART.NCF are loaded. 4. Add "load lslenh3" to the IOSTART.NCF of each server before the load statement for the LAN drivers. This will automatically load PM311IO.NLM. 5. Load LSLENH3.NLM then A3112.NLM followed by NBI31x.NLM, MSM31X, and ETHERTSM.NLM (see example above) and then load the driver, RLPNPA.LAN in the IOSTART.NCF of each server. 6. Server is now ready for workstaion connection. Installing on NetWare v4.1 SFT III ЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭЭ Novell new driver specifications require the loading of NBI.NLM support file. Loading the NBI.NLM file will display a warning message if you have not run the Loader patch from Novell. The warning message does not apply to the RL2000A-PNP driver. If you do not want to do Loader patch and does not want to warning message to appear, then folow th instruction below to use RLPNPNW3.LAN driver. 1) From NetWare boot directory, run MSERVER to start the IO Engine 2) Start NetWare v4.1, enter ACTIVATE SERVER 3) Swicth to NetWare v4.1 console and run LOAD INSTALL 4) Choose "Driver Option" 5) Choose "Configure Network Drvers" 6) Choose "Select a Driver" 7) Insert the Rl2000A-PNP driver distribution disk 8) Press INS key | Press F3 key | Enter A:\NW3.11 9) Press ENTER key to accept the driver "Compex RL2000A-PNP Ethernet Adapter" 10) Select the necessary frame types, if necessary.
