The driver and other relevant files are located in the WFW311 directory. The directory structure provided on the driver diskette has been setup for automatic OEM installation. Follow the guidelines in the Microsoft Windows for Workgroups User's Guide for more details to install the driver from the driver diskette. ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ INSTALLATION GUIDE ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ NDIS 3.0 Driver Installation for Windows for Workgroups v3.11 ============================================================= 1. In the Windows directory, run WIN.COM. 2. Insert the driver diskette into the system's floppy drive. 3. In the Windows for Workgroup 3.11 Program Manager, select icon from the windows. 4. In the dialog box, select the button. 5. In the dialog box, select button. 6. In the dialog box, choose "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter" from the menu and then select . 7. The dialog box appears. Enter correct path of the driver (eg. A:\WFW311) and select . 8. The name of the adapter "Compex RL100ATX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter" is displayed, select the adapter that matches the hardware from the Adapter list. [ Compex RL100ATX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter ] 9. The screen shows the default configuration. The driver may be set to a different configuration. Choose "OK" if all configuration settings are correct. 10. The NDIS driver will be copied into the Windows for Workgroup. All other necessary files are also copied from the Windows for Workgroup disk. 11. The NDIS driver installation is completed. Choose to make the changes effective. 12. The Windows for Workgroups is now ready to run with the adapter. Driver Parameters ================= There are 6 parameters that can be changed. a. BurstLen = 32 longwords Burst Length defines the maximum number of long words that can be transferred within one PCI burst transaction. The reasonable values are "1 longword", "2 longwords", "4 longwords", "8 longwords", "16 longwords" and "32 longwords". b. CacheAlign = 32 longword alignment Cache Alignment defines the address boundary for data burst. The reasonable values are "8 longword alignment", "16 longword alignment" and "32 longword alignment". c. Threshold = full packet This value decides the transmit threshold level of the transmit FIFO. Transmission will start immediately after the transmit FIFL has reached the threshold level or full pkt has been transferred to the transmit FIFO if the frame length is less than the transmit threshold level. TxThreshold Transmit Threshold Level 00H full pkt 01H 16 bytes 02H 32 bytes -- -- 7FH 2032 bytes" d. LineSpeed = AutoDetect This adapter can be operationed in 10M or 100M Mbps. The reasonable values are AutoDetect(auto detect line speed by the driver), 10M(set the line speed is 10M) and 100M(set the line speed is 100M). e. FullDuplex = AutoDetect This adapter can be in half or full duplex mode. In half duplex mode, the RL100ATX can only either transmit or receive. In full duplex mode, the RL100ATX can transmit and receive at the same time. The reasonable values are AutoDetect(auto detect full duplex function by the driver), Disable(disable full duplex), and Enable(enable full duplex). f. SelectedID This parameter is necessary when your system is equipped with multiple RL100ATX cards. For each driver, you must assign a unique physical address. The value of this parameter is a hexadecimal string of 12 digits.
