EN2000N-TP (with twisted pair media) EN2000N-CX (with BNC media) EN2000N-COMBO (with both twisted pair and BNC media) EN2000N-COMBO3 (with twisted pair, BNC and AUI media) The file layout in the MSLANMAN.DOS directory is shown below. NDIS.DOC This file MSLANMAN.DOS | |___ DRIVERS | |___ ETHERNET | | | |___ EN2000 | |___ EN2000.DOS | |___ PROTOCOL.INI | |___ NIF | |_____ EN2000.NIF MSLANMAN.OS2 | |___ DRIVERS | |___ ETHERNET | | | |___ EN2000 | |___ EN2000.OS2 | |___ PROTOCOL.INI | |___ NIF |_____ EN2000.NIF 1. Installation for MS-DOS LAN Manager workstation -------------------------------------------------- a. Start the computer and access the MS-DOS command line. b. LAN Manager should already be installed in your computer. Make the directory containing the LAN Manager software the current directory. This directory contains a copy of the Setup program. If it does not, insert LAN Manager DOS Setup disk into disk drive A:, and start the Setup program by typing setup c. Follow the on-screen instructions until the "Select Available Network Drives:" message appears. - select . - insert the EN2000N driver diskette into your computer's floppy drive A: - type the drive name A:; type the drive where the diskette is. - when "Compex EN2000N Ethernet Adapter" appears on the screen, press space bar to select. - the program will ask if you have any more disks to load. Choose - from the Actions menu, choose View/Modify to review or change the other configuration for your workstation. - follow the on-screen instructions for the rest of the installation procedure. The PROTOCOL.INI is a text file containing hardware configuration data for the network adapter. The following table summarizes the possible entries and values for each section name in PROTOCOL.INI. -------------------------------------------------------------- Entry Units Range Default -------------------------------------------------------------- DRIVERNAME - - EN2000$ IOBASE hex 0x300,0x240,0x280,0x2C0 0x280 0x320,0x340,0x360 INTERRUPT decimal 2,3,4,5,10,11 10 -------------------------------------------------------------- If the adapter is not found or is not initialized successfully, the driver shows an error message. 2. Installation for LAN Manager OS/2 server or workstation ---------------------------------------------------------- The installation procedure for LAN Manager OS/2 is very similar to that for MS-DOS LAN Manager installation. Start the LAN Manager Setup program, then follow the same procedure as that for MS-DOS LAN Manager. Installing Multiple Adapters in LAN Manager OS/2 server or workstation -------------------------------------------------------------- You may install multiple adapters (maximum four) in one OS/2 LAN Manager system using the LAN Manager SETUP program. During installation, you must select the driver as many times as the number of adapters installed. After installing multiple adapters, the master PROTOCOL.INI file in the LAN Manager directory will be configured. The following is an example: PROTOCOL.INI Example ( for example, three EN2000N adapters installed ) . . [EN2000_NIF] DRIVERNAME = EN2000$ [EN2000_NIF2] DRIVERNAME = EN2000$ [EN2000_NIF3] DRIVERNAME = EN2000$ . . Important Note: You must edit the master PROTOCOL.INI. The example after editing is as below: PROTOCOL.INI Example (revised) . . [EN2000_NIF] DRIVERNAME = EN2000$ [EN2000_NIF2] DRIVERNAME = EN20002$ [EN2000_NIF3] DRIVERNAME = EN20003$ . . With regards to CONFIG.SYS, you will find the file contains only one DEVICE line for EN2000.OS2 instead of three as shown in the following example. CONFIG.SYS Example . . DEVICE=C:\LANMAN\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\EN2000\EN2000.OS2 . . Since EN2000.OS2 driver can support four adapters at the same time, LAN Manager Setup program configures CONFIG.SYS to load EN2000.OS2 image just once during booting. This saves your system memory. 3.
