Troubles using MiniSCSI under Windows 95/98


This document applies to the following Parallel-to-SCSI Host Adapters:

    If you are experiencing any of the following difficulties, this might take care of your problem:

  3. Installing the Driver

    If no driver for the SCSI Controller is installed already, you may install one as follows:

    1. Adaptec|Trantor MiniSCSI EPP

      1. Download the driver (APA358.ZIP)
      2. UnZIP the downloaded file to a temporary location, making a note of where you unzipped it.
      3. Open the Control Panel
      4. Double-Click Add New Hardware
      5. Click Next
      6. Select No and click Next
      7. Select SCSI Controllers and click Next
      8. Click Have Disk...
      9. Enter the path where you unzipped the driver and click OK.
      10. Select Adaptec APA-358 MiniSCSI EPP SCSI Host Adapter and click Next
      11. Click Finish
      12. Let the machine reboot
      13. From the Control Panel, double-click System
      14. Select the Device Manager tab
      15. Under SCSI Controllers, double-click Adaptec APA-358 MiniSCSI EPP SCSI Host Adapter
      16. Select the Settings tab
      17. Under Adapter settings, type /m2 /I7
      18. Click OK
      19. Click OK
      20. Let the machine reboot, and you're done!
  4. Changing the Driver

    If the wrong driver for the SCSI Controller is installed already, you may install the correct one as follows:

    1. Adaptec|Trantor MiniSCSI EPP

      1. Download the driver (APA358.ZIP)
      2. Unzip the downloaded file to a temporary location, making a note of where you unzipped it.
      3. Right-click My Computer
      4. Select Properties
      5. Under SCSI Controllers, double-click the device which you wish to change the driver for
      6. Under Manufacturers, select Trantor
      7. Select the Driver tab
      8. Click Change Driver...
      9. Select SCSI Controllers and click Next
      10. Click Have Disk...
      11. Enter the path where you unzipped the driver and click OK.
      12. Select Adaptec APA-358 MiniSCSI EPP SCSI Host Adapter and click Next
      13. Click Finish
      14. Let the machine reboot
      15. Right-click My Computer
      16. Select Properties
      17. Select the Device Manager tab
      18. Under SCSI Controllers, double-click Adaptec APA-358 MiniSCSI EPP SCSI Host Adapter
      19. Select the Settings tab
      20. Under Adapter settings, type /m2 /I7
      21. Click OK
      22. Click OK
      23. Let the machine reboot, and you're done!
